Meadow Collection

Mysteries, Yes ~ Mary Oliver

Truly, we live with mysteries too marvelous

    to be understood.

How grass can be nourishing in the

   mouths of the lambs.

How rivers and stones are forever

    in allegiance with gravity

while we ourselves dream of rising.

How two hands touch and the bonds will

    never be broken.

How people come, from delight or the

    scars of damage,

to the comfort of a poem.

Let me keep my distance, always, from those
who think they have the answers.

Let me keep company always with those who say
   “Look!” and laugh in astonishment,
   and bow their heads

August Meadow
Watercolor, Sumi ink, Unryu papers, acrylic medium, grasses collected in Oregon, vintage cabinet from kitchen in Portland, Oregon
24"x15" $725.

Created on vintage kitchen cabinets from renovated kitchens here in Portland, Oregon and generously donated to me by the homeowners.

I take the cabinets and sand them down, clean them up from their years of honorable work of storing plates and cooking pots and cans of beans, and give them a new life. I add handmade papers, bits of gold leaf, and make small embellishments with Sumi ink .

I love this process and I love seeing the end results. I hope you will love it too.
